5AM...not 5PM! Not the words you want to hear from your wife as she's checking her flight time for the next day. Especially not the words you want to hear since you're the one taking her to the airport. Meaning you'll be waking up at 3AM too. Why even bother going to sleep the night before?

And that's not the worst part. You are now solo and still have fifteen hundred miles of towing a trailer over ten days and a six hour ferry ride ahead of you. And did I mention the three standard poodles.

What was I thinking...

More to the story
Nancy ended up driving herself to the airport. I ended up sleeping in <yeah>.  The airport was only four miles away.  So I just ran over to the airport to pick up the car.

When I arrived at the exit gate the machine only took credit cards. I only had cash in the car. So I drove back to the terminal to pay by cash.  Problem was I had a $50 and the machine only took 5's, 10's, and 20's.  I ended up going to the one store in the airport and buying a cookie to get change for the machine.

And there's more
Flying out of Newfoundland isn't easy.  There are no direct flights to any of the NYC or Philly airports.  Nancy had to fly Gander-->Halifax-->Montreal-->Newark.

When she arrived in Montreal she had to clear US Customs in order to board her flight into the US.  But there was a backup and she ended up missing her flight.  So the airline booked her on a flight from Montreal-->Toronto where she would get a flight to Philly instead of Newark
Even more to the story
Apparently since she cleared US Customs in Montreal she had to "enter back" into Canada and clear Canadians customs.  Even though she never left Canada...or the airport.

And even more
So customs is short handed on the US/Canadian border as many of the agents have been redirected to the southern border.  The result...when Nancy tries to clear customs in Toronto there is a big line.  She is about to miss her plane again!  Luckily some well timed begging combined with shoving got her through customs just in time to make her flight.

And just when you think it couldn't get worseAfter four flights plus an hour train ride from the airport plus an Uber Nancy finally makes it home.  We have a keypad on the garage door, so we left the door leading from the garage into the house unlocked.  Upon trying to enter the house from the garage she finds the door locked.  And she doesn't have a key for the house with her!  Apparently one of our house guests (who shall not be named...SFO) locked that door.
Prologue
Luckily our next door neighbor has a key to the house and Nancy was able to get in.

And this is why I have a trailer and avoid flying.  That 1500 mile drive thing with the poodles doesn't sound so bad now.
