Doghouse for the Tin Poodle

Image
OK...bad pun.  So here's the new storage shed for the Bowlus when we're not on the road.

Oh no...not again

In an earlier post I wrote about several instances of birds pecking on the Tin Poodle.  And for some reason it's always right over the bedroom.  Well it happened again. While camping in Rhode Island a particularly energetic bird decided to start pecking during the afternoon.  I chased him away only to have him return the next day...at 5AM...right over the bedroom...while we were sleeping!  After chasing it away again neither of us could get back to sleep.  So we packed up early and headed home. Here's a few pictures before we were chased away.  No bird pictures unfortunately. Stats:  550 miles, 509 Wh/mile

tl;dr Lots of pictures of charging a Tesla with a trailer.  Brief discussions on different charging logistics.  Scroll down for trailer porn... Long version Since picking up the Tin Poodle outside of Las Vegas we've travelled just over 3000 miles (and still have about 500 more to go).  We've travelled through nine states (with at least two more to go).  And we've charged at twenty Tesla superchargers. It's that last number, twenty superchargers, that I'm going to write about today.  More specifically how to charge a Tesla on a cross country trip while towing a trailer.  Here's the breakdown: Overnight charging We made a point of only staying in campgrounds that had electrical infrastructure at our site.  Mostly 240V/50A and occasionally 120V/30A. We could then plug into an outlet and have a full charge by the next AM.  Pretty much the same as we do at home in the garage. This is by far the easiest method and one we used at virtually every campgrou

Things I learned driving through Missouri

Most "adult stores" per mile For a conservative,  religious state  there seems to be one almost every exit. Armadillo roadkill The only thing more numerous than the adult book stores are the Armadillo roadkill. "Ask someone around here if they’ve seen an armadillo and they’re likely to ask back, “Alive?”... but they’re not very good at crossing highways. When startled by a vehicle, they spring straight up on those short, squatty legs." Testicle Festival Who knew this was a thing?  Twenty four times no less!  Sadly we'll be out of Missouri by the time it rolls around and miss it... 24th Annual Testicle Festival But seriously The people we've met are really friendly and nice.  Also two of the nicest parks we've stayed have been in Missouri.

Ellie +Selfie = Elfie "Do you cook?" What is the question a woman looking at the Tin Poodle asks me.  <Confused pause on my part> "You are a traveling chef...right?" <More confused pause on my part> <Aha moment on my part!> <My response> "Umm..that says ' Chief' ...
